Traveling...Swedish Style
I came across this hotel on one of my favorite blogs, this is glamour and I can't stop dreaming. This lovely boutique hotel in Sweden looks so cozy with incredible decor, it's so french country with the gingham, checkers and stripes. I'm in love with the decor!! I would feel right at home here and need to put this hotel on my list of places to see. Happy day dreaming...
Christmas & Burberry!
When I think of classy and Christmas I think of Burberry. When I do Christmas photos I would love to incorporate Burberry into my Christmas photos. A man in a Burberry tie is dreamy and children in Burberry are out of this world. My Christmas card might have a few of these items included one day, all found at Nordstrom...Happy Dreaming!

Dreaming of Homes
It's so much fun to dream, one of my favorite things to do is drive around Medina, Clyde Hill and Madison Park and look at homes. But I must admit I rarely know the right terminology for some of my favorite style of homes so I thought, why not learn. My dream would be an old colonial, cape cod or a rambler - I LOVE ramblers! The first house I lived in was a Dutch Colonial in River Forest, Chicago so I'm sure that's why I'm a little partial to the classics. The decor is another story...bead board, crown molding, checkered black and white floors, stripes, and gingham window treatments and the list goes on. Here are a few of my favorite styles and a little terminology to help when you're out house shopping...happy day dreaming! ...all these homes are missing is a big American Flag in the front.
The prominent, center gable isn't typical Dutch colonial here. But it is typical of the Cape Dutch Style. That is, in colonial South Africa.
Traditional Colonial homes have paired chimneys, decorative doorways and plain, symmetrical fronts.
How about one of my favorite movie homes from Somethings Gotta Give, it's a classic Cape Cod style home. Cape Cod house plans are often one story or one-and-a-half story designs that include decorative elements on the exterior which give it a distinctly "Cape Cod" feel. These decorative elements can include shingle or clap board siding and dormers.
This is a traditional Dutch colonial with widow's walk. This American style originated in homes built by German, or
“Deutsch” settlers in Pennsylvania as early as the 1600s. A hallmark of
the style is a broad gambrelroof
with flaring eaves that extend over the porches, creating a barn-like
effect.
And of course one of my favorite movie homes is the Father of the Bride home. This is a Traditional Colonial. Love!
Colonial homes were as popular in the Southern Colonies as the
north, but the southern version had the chimneys at the ends instead of
the center. Characteristics, steeply pitched gable roof, symmetrical in shape, with centered front door, multi-pane, tall, double-hung windows, narrow plan, often only one room deep, wide, welcoming front porch, tall foundation walls to protect against moisture damage.
Another one of my favorites is the Khardasian Ranch.
This style combined
the trend toward more informal design (Bungalow) and
low, horizontal lines (Prairie). Originally developed
in California, these single story homes were built
across the country after World War II to meet the
considerable housing needs of returning soldiers and
their families. Ranch style features include low pitched
roofs, deep eaves, large windows, simple floor plans
and attached garages.

Colonial Revival
Resurgence in American patriotism followed the country’s
1876 centennial that continued through the two World
Wars. This was reflected in the immense popularity
of colonial style architecture, based loosely on symmetrical
Federal and Georgian designs. Design features include
a rectangular footprint, gable roof, accented center
front door, double-hung windows with shutters. Dormers
and fireplaces are generally present. Dutch colonial
and Cape Cod styles are variations of this design.

J.Crew Family
Okay, so I wanted to post on this because I was so excited that my readers actually listen and buy the things I post on. One of my best friends Julia Veach, who is gorgeous and such an amazing friend who I've had so much fun sharing dresses with, she always has the go to dress that I can borrow at the last minute. Anyway, she purchased the ASOS dress that I blogged on a few weeks ago. Look how fabulous she looks. I thought I would post a few more pictures of her and her family for fun, they are such a mix of the Khardaisans & J.Crew - - some fun fashion ideas!! Her and her incredible husband are the youth pastors at Puyallup Foursquare.
Chalkboard Wall
I love the look of a chalkboard wall, how cute for a children's playroom, bedroom or bathroom...where they can play games, you can write cute notes, reminders...the list is endless. Growing up one of my best friends parents let us write on one of their walls in the bonus room and it was so much fun to look back over the years and see all the silly things we would write. Of course a big one was who we were crushing on! You can purchase chalkboard paint at Home Depot and here is an easy and fun How To. Enjoy!

Gingham Love!
I love a man in a bow-tie, call me cheesy but I don't think it gets much classier than a gingham, seersucker, bow-tie. I'm a huge fan of gingham. Like I've mentioned before my house will be full of gingham and stripes. This Alexander Olch bow tie is perfect for the man in your life, it comes in red and green too...perfect for the holidays! Happy Gingham Monday!

Barre3 Obsession
I'm going to let you in on my new obsession....Barre3. I've been going for the last two months and I've never felt better, lost more weight and been more toned. I'm a workout junkie and I've tried it all but I'm in LOVE with Barre3 and can't get enough. I just found out that Madonna's newest strength-training obsession is Barre3 too. Barre3 is an hour-long workout routine that combines ballet, pilates exercises,
and yoga poses. Try it out and you'll be on your way to a flat stomach, toned arms and tight thighs like Madonna. It's a must!! Have a great weekend and Go Huskies!!
